NYC THERAPIST

Therapy for Families

Families go through life cycle stages just like individuals, and can easily get stuck in places along the way.

Therapy can help by offering new perspectives and helping everyone understand each other a little better.  Together we will look at the family as a system and work to build on what is currently working to help change what is not.

Some examples of transitions that can bring families into therapy:

  • Transitioning from a family with young children to a family with adolescents

  • Healing after a loss or illness

  • Adjusting to two households after a divorce or separation

  • Living as a newly formed blended family

  • Navigating new employment or economic circumstances

  • Parent Coaching, Groups & Workshops

If you find that your ideal version of yourself as a parent seems nothing like reality - you are not alone! Let’s work together to align those two visions. Learn how your family of origin affects your ideas and actions and come up with some “top down” strategies that will help you gain confidence, feel more positively connected to your child and enjoy a more peaceful home.

  • Treating Children Individually

There are times when a younger child would also benefit from seeing a therapist individually, at least for a few sessions.  This would be determined during initial meetings with parents and an assessment of the presenting concerns, the child, and the family situation.
