STRENGTHENING CONNECTIONS

Therapy in Manhattan with Julie Stonberg, LCSW

Do you find yourself pushing people away when you long to connect?

Is the vision you have for the type of parent or partner you want to be far from your current reality?

Maybe you find yourself saying yes when you want to say no, or unable to break out of stressful patterns even as you can see them playing out.

If you have been thinking that you need to make some changes, but the idea of starting is overwhelming, let’s talk. We’ll figure out where you are right now and where you want to be, and together, come up with a road map to get there.

Being human is complex and at times difficult.

Learning to sit with uncomfortable feelings - whether it’s sadness or anxiety or even rage - without being afraid of them, is part of how we learn and grow.

Sometimes we need to listen closely to these feelings and what they may be telling us: to change jobs maybe or let go of a relationship that no longer serves us.

And sometimes, as with grief, we need to simply honor our painful feelings, allowing them to wash over us like a wave that eventually heads back out to sea. And then, when we can, we need to get up and take care of ourselves in healthy ways.

NYC THERAPIST

Julie Stonberg, LCSW

Change is scary, I get it.  It’s much easier and more comfortable to continue as is, even if it feels bad.

Therapy is a collaborative effort, rather than an external fix (like an antibiotic).  I am there as a guide, support, and cheerleader, but only YOU can really do the work.

If you’ve landed on my website, chances are you’re feeling ready.

I can help you tap into your strengths, gain clarity, and build skills to help you feel more confident and in control of your life.

Together we’ll work to understand who you are within your relationships (past and present) and to strengthen positive connections to promote healing and sort through whatever difficulties you currently face.
